Welcome to the Calheta Marina blog!

Our objectives:A platform for the services available in and around the marina for sailors and non-sailors. A platform for information on events again in and around the marina

Calheta Marina: an introduction

The marina opened to the public in September 2004. It faces the Atlantic Ocean. Its comfort and tranquillity attracts visitors immediately.

The marina has 339 moorings for crafts from 6 to 25m in length. Its maximum depth is 3.5 metres. There are 44 places for jet skis and exclusive passage for pleasure crafts.

The marina’s wide range of services includes a fuel station, a pump-out pump for sewage disposal, used oils disposal points and a support craft for mooring manoeuvre.

Overall, the Marina provides a safe and pleasant stay, and offers a set of shops and restaurants for sailors and non-sailors. The marina’s covered multi-storey car park has capacity for approximately 340 vehicles.

Next to the Marina there is an artificial yellow sand beach for beach-lovers and a four-star hotel for relaxation perhaps before or after voyages.

Besides the marina Calheta can also offer an international Arts Centre, the Sugar Mills of Calheta, where you can try some of the regional delicacies, such as “bolo de mel” (honey cake), “broas” (corn bread) and even “poncha” (local drink) and beautiful fishing villages such as Jardim do Mar and Paul do Mar both surfing centres.
